Our Mission

Our lab’s mission is to develop mechanistic models of how objects are perceived and manipulated with our hands. Our long term goals are to use these models to better understand dysfunctional sensori-motor neural circuits, and optimize neural stimulation strategies for integrating artificial prosthetics with brain signals.

About the Lab

Our lab’s primary goal is to understand the cross-cortical mechanisms that mediate sensation and action with our hands. A major focus of study is sensori-motor integration mechanisms that enable haptic perception and control. We utilize a multi-species (rodents, non-human primates, and humans) and multi-technology (high-density electrophysiology, optogenetics, and neural imaging) approach to interrogate and control functional neural ensembles across the neural network mediating haptic functions.
